What It Is
Disability policy consists of statutes, regulations, and court decisions ("policy on the books"). It also consists of the practices that administrators, service providers, and families adopt ("policy on the streets").
What We're Doing
We carry out disability policy research by analyzing policy on the books and on the streets according to the "core concepts" of disability policy in six difference policy arenas. These are early intervention and education; transition to adulthood; special education generally; family support; the legal implications of the Human Genome Project; and life-sustaining treatment when a person nears the end of life.
