The Kan-Ed Content and Services Initiative: Using Technology
to Facilitate District and Building-Level Reading/Literacy and Behavioral
Outcomes for Students across Kansas)
The main purpose of this project is
to better utilize Interactive Distance Learning (IDL) technology to work with
districts across Kansas
to facilitate enhanced academic and behavioral outcomes for students, focusing
in particular on improving reading/literacy performance. The Northeast
Kansas Education and Service
Center, in collaboration
with the Beach Center, is developing innovative,
evidence-based content for Kan-Ed members to expand their knowledge in the areas
of best practices in literacy, reading, and classroom behavior.
This project is rooted in the belief
that significant improvements in academic outcomes occur when effective
behavior supports, including classroom management strategies, are implemented.
This project provides instructional
content for teachers across Kansas
in these targeted areas:
- Designing Behavior Support and Literacy/Reading
Interventions to Optimize Student Success
- Three-Tiered Intervention Model and
Problem-Solving Approach to Enhancing Reading Outcomes (based on Response to
Intervention framework)
Integrating
Evidence-Based Approaches for Teaching Literacy/Reading and Improving Classroom
Behavior using Real Applications in Real Classrooms.
