Bio: Dr. Wehmeyer is an internationally recognized expert on self-determination, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and access to general education curriculum for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. He has published more than 190 journal articles and book chapters and is the co-editor or co-author of 20 books on these and other subjects. In addition, Dr. Wehmeyer has served as the primary investigator for more than 25 federally-funded projects on transition to adulthood, self-determination, technology use by people with cognitive disability, and access to the general education curriculum for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Dr. Wehmeyer is a board member and Fellow of the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, a past president of CEC’s Division on Career Development and Transition, and editor-in-chief of the journal Remedial and Special Education. In addition to his role in the Beach Center , Dr. Wehmeyer is a professor of special education at KU and director of the Kansas University Center on Developmental Disabilities.
