Bio:
Peter is currently the Evaluation Coordinator for two projects at the University of Kansas in Lawrence – the Inclusive Network of Kansas (INKS) at the Beach Center on Disability and the Kansas Institute for Positive Behavior Support (KIPBS) at the Life Span Institute. He earned his M.Ed. in Special Education from Temple University, and completed all course requirements for a Doctorate in Community Psychology at the University of Missouri-Kansas City
For the INKS project, Peter develops and coordinates the implementation of an annual evaluation plan that utilizes a results-based accountability framework and team-level action planning tools & strategies to measure project outcomes for students with severe disabilities and significant support needs. For KIPBS, he reviews all components of the project. This includes evaluating all case study plans developed by KIPBS facilitators-in-training, as well as each successful graduate's first "real world" plan that is prior authorized by Kansas Social Rehabilitative Services, to assure that all person-centered, positive behavior support (PC-PBS) plans are of high quality (fidelity) and, when implemented, produce positive impacts for individuals and their families across various quality of life domains. He also mentors and coaches professionals who are enrolled in the KIPBS facilitator course.
Peter has worked with children and adults (both typically-developing individuals and persons with various types and levels of developmental disabilities) who experience problem behaviors for over 35 years, including the past eleven years as an onsite behavioral consultant for the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. He also has extensive experience facilitating school-wide PBS, using a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) model, in early childhood, elementary, and middle school settings in Kansas.
